The professional services industry is highly competitive and there is a need for firms to perform to their optimum and differentiate themselves in their marketplace is more critical than ever before. John regularly undertakes reviews of a firms internal and external health and business strategies which often includes meeting with a firms key internal personnel and their key clients.

John, as an external party to both the client relationship and the firm is regularly asked to undertake reviews of firm internal health and business strategies which often includes meeting with an organisations key internal personnel but also interviewing their key clients.

Often stakeholders will not directly voice their opinions in relation to their relationship with the firm, particularly if they are negative, the alternative which is sadly often taken –is leaving that relationship.

John’s utilizes his experience as both a consultant and professional within multiple industries to assess a firm’s culture and relationships both within the firm, between its various levels and externally with their clients.

By interviewing partners, clients, staff – both fee earners and non fee earners, John can provide feedback on any issues he uncovers and recommendations of how to approach them. In many cases this has resulted in retaining a client or staff member which would otherwise have been lost to competitors.

Examples & Experience
  • Surveying partners in an international professional firm to identify firm strengths and weaknesses; reporting back to whole partnership on survey results; specific project to ensure partners in one office work more cohesively.
  • Interviewing clients and all staff of a large multi-sited firm to provide feedback to the partners and develop short, medium and long term action plans to address problem areas. Including follow up reviews.
  • Working with a firms Board of Partners to undertake review of firms internal health including interviews with staff and partners individually.
  • Reporting to partners the perceived and actual culture within the firm and working with them to develop strategies to address issues which were affecting staff motivation and productivity, budgeting, marketing, staff turnover and partner behaviour.
  • Interviewing several major clients of professional firms and providing report to the firm on feedback from clients with suggested strategies to strengthen or improve client relationships.
